I'm less than $12 from hitting the $100 threshold on my Google Adsense account.
Google sends me a check once I reach $100. The last (first and only) check I cashed from Google was for $120.10. (See image below).
No, I don't blog "just for fun" although it is part of my self-therapy. If you know me, I'm into photography, and my photos mean the world to me.
But sharing my photos on Facebook helps make Facebook money. I've decided I'd rather have my photos benefit me instead of Zuckerberg and Facebook shareholders.
I had this idea in January 2003 to create a Fil-Am website, an ONLINE COMMUNITY, be the number one Filipino website in California (since most of the Filipino-Americans lived in California) and reap the ads revenues from that. I had met with my cousin Melvin (and his cousin Ress) back then at my house. Friendster was the thing then. But the site that inspired everyone back then (including Mark Zuckerberg later on) was "Hot or Not."
Hot or Not is a rating site that allowed users to rate the attractiveness of photos submitted voluntarily by others. The site offered a matchmaking engine called 'Meet Me' and an extended profile feature called "Hotlists". The domain hotornot.com is currently owned by Hot Or Not Limited, and was previously owned by Avid Life Media. 'Hot or Not' was a significant influence on the people who went on to create the social media sites Facebook and YouTube.
Unfortunately, I got too busy with the day job and my family. And Facebook was created in 2004 (although I wouldn't hear about it until September 2007 when I joined). Facebook, as you know, was genius. It was what I had wanted to create for Filipino-Americans in California.
In short, visiting this website (and viewing the ads) helps the site owner (me) make a little money. So please like, comment, and share... and COME AGAIN!
If you or someone you know could join as a blogger, that's even better. I have many sub-sites like la.pinoybuilt.com for those who live in SoCal for example.
“If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”
Maraming salamat po. Thank you very much.
